The MCFJC Foundation has three primary initiatives:

* The Lawyer’s Initiative
* The Business Initiative
* The Community Initiative

The Lawyers Initiative:  Our Lawyers Initiative is the Foundation’s effort to increase awareness, within the legal community, about the work of the MCFJC and MCFJC Foundation. This is accomplished through:

* Speaking engagements at bar association events
* Talking with various members of the legal system
* Presenting informative materials at the County’s Law Day
* Direct mailings
* Fundraising and other activities
* Current attorney seek out new attorneys with an interest in providing some pro bono legal services to help FJC clients, in a confidential setting, in the filing of their initial Protective Orders, immigrant issues, and other legal matters.

The Business Initiative: The MCFJC Foundation partners with dozens of local businesses who offer both in-kind services and financial support.  Examples include:

* Verizon Wireless provided critical funds necessary to purchase technical equipment, which will be used for forensic interviews
* Geico Philanthropic and Kaiser Permanente provided funds for us to purchase comfortable furnishings for the Center so that clients don’t feel as if they are walking into a cold-metal-desk-feeling office.
* In-kind donations of gift certificates or vouchers to be used for emergency food or clothing.

The Community Initiative: Foundation board members and other interested volunteers have outreached to the community and partnered with other non-profits such as:

* Women Who Care Ministries who provide food for our pantry on a weekly basis
* Dozens and dozens of artists gave their original works which now hang throughout the Center to help provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere
* The American Sewing Guild who knit hundreds of warm hats and mittens for the children who come to the Center
* The Montgomery County Commission for Women who provided hundreds of new books for the children’s library at the Center

The whole community has shown fantastic support!
